LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL
THEARD, SAM MOORE,
FLEECIE CHERIO CORP. 4:42

A great way to start this album! Kenny Wayne and Mike Henry set the mood for the CD, letting us all know that the good times are rolling!  Producer Byron Thorne's favourite version of this song (BB King and Bobby Bland, "Live Together Again") inspired and informed this arrangement. Byron didn't think this album could be made without it...

THE HOUSE OF BLUE LIGHT
JACOGG PUBLICATIONS, INC. 3:00

The suggestion to include Bev Staunton on this recording was brilliant. Her take on this classic just kills... Miles Black, best known for his jazz work, serves up tasty and authentic boogie woogie  piano. Smiles were in abundance in the studio when this was tracked.

BLUE LIGHT BOOGIE
ROBINSON, JESSE MAE
CHERIO CORPORATION 4:30

Kenny Wayne is a vocalist that can get into character, and the listener can have a real "theatre of the mind" as Kenny delivers the
narrative. The rhythym section understands the kind of understated swing this song demands. Byron was exposed to Louis Jordan's version of this song (thanks to Danny Casavant) and elected to include it on
Danny's recommendation. Kenny had never heard the song prior to the session....  now it is included in his own solo performances.

GOOD ROCKIN' TONIGHT
BROWN, ROY
FORT KNOX MUSIC INC TRIO MUSIC CO INC 4:27

While most people equate this composition with 50's rockabilly, Byron heard this, one of his favourites, in a jump/swing context. It wasn't until he heard Jerry Doucette performing at Vancouver's venerable Yale that he knew he had the voice to complete his vision. Jerry delivers a barrelhouse performance that compliments the arrangement perfectly.

9 BELOW ZERO
WILLIAMSON, SONNY BOY
ARC MUSIC CORPORATION 3:41

The recorded performances are electrifying. Mike sings it tough as nails. After the initial tracking was completed, Byron suggested Keith (harmonica) and Steve (tenor sax) trade riffs. They deliver appropriately gritty performances.

NIGHT TRAIN
FORREST, JIMMY SIMPKINS, LEWIS WASHINGTON
OSCAR FREDERICK MUSIC COMPANY 3:55

A great jazz standard beautifully reworked by Miles Black for this album. It is a real showcase for Steve Hilliams tenor sax, and the assembled horn section generally.

Byron has fond memories of grooving to this song, especially Ike Turner's version. Jerry Doucette's riff on this song is perfect...the irreverent bad boy!

IT'S ALL THE SAME
ANTHONY ZAMAGNI (TONY Z.)
ZEBRA BLUE MUSIC BMI 3:05

A newer song from the "Kiss My Blues" collection. Barn burning boogie that fires on all cylinders thanks to Steve Hilliam's energetic intro. This is also Hammond ace Robbie King at his quirky best...his solo demonstrates that he is in his own musical orbit!

STORMY MONDAY

WARNER BROS INC 3:27

Listeners are usually accustomed to a down-tempo blues song....Byron had the idea to boogie it up a bit! A neat touch was to have Vince Mai on trumpet and Tom Keenlyside on baritone sax trade fours.
